My fingers are raw. My back is kinda tired. And my first quilt is basted. Woop-Woop!

I have the thread and my machine's clean. I'm going to change the needle, but that takes nearly nothing. I could start quilting any time. Maybe tomorrow. Today, I'm so very tired and ornery. That's not the kind of energy that makes for good quilting. Right now, I just want to crawl into bed and sleep for the next twenty-four hours. I'm kind of amazed that I even got the basting done. But, I did that at a local quilt shop -- notably not at home. My home seems so draining right now. I want to move so much I can almost taste it. That alone makes me tired. And, the boy hasn't slept well in a week. That makes me tired, too. Heck, I haven't slept well in a week, though it seems like a month. And there's no food in the house except cheese popcorn and bread and peanut butter, and the dogs are hungry but everyone expects me to feed them and I still haven't paid the bills or mailed the taxes or sent the family photo to my grandmother and my honey promised that I'd pick up some products for a freelance job he's doing tomorrow which means I have to get up early and drive him to work and thus there is no chance I'll get to sleep in which in turn means I have to go to bed early tonight. That makes me tired, too.

But, I'm done basting. That counts for something big. Yep, something big.

i get this crazy feeling that you're tired. :P

i hope it gets better!

did you pin baste or stitch baste? i doubt you spray basted it. that stuff sucks anyhow. i'm a pin baster, me.

i actually did a little quilt top yesterday, despite my allergies kicking my ass. it was for my fire shrine. i didn't baste it or quilt it or anything. i just wanted the top so it would drape better. i'm gonna try and get back to my quilting, which i have let flag for months now. sigh....

OHMYGOD -- PINS!!!

Stitch baste? Heck no. I like stitch-basting for small projects that I plan to quilt on my lap with no frame, but removing all that stitching really sucks. And, I can't exactly re-use the thread, well, I probably could but it wouldn't be nearly as easy as re-using saftey pins. I spray-basted once, but didn't like the end product. It was stiffer even after I washed it a few times. So, yep, I used pins. I had to buy another set, too. There are a lot of pins in that quilt. I picked up thread for both projects, too. It was a spendy day at the quilt shop. :-)

Any chance you'll post a pic of the fire quilt? How did you back it, or did you let the back be unfinished?

And, I'm feeling much better today. The Sepia is helping already. The boy is going through another growth spurt, at least I hope that's what it is. He's ornery and contrary, and that is getting a little old. Hopefully he'll be done with it soon and we can move on to a week or two of happy times together.
